Meowth

Meowth is a feline cat pokémon named after the sound cat's make. (As every child knows, cats go meow). The Japanese name of this pokémon is Nyarth. This pokémon loves playing with round objects and shiny items. According to the pokédex, it often steals coins from people and plays with them. When angered, this pokémon will scratch the person its angry with.

In the pokémon anime, there is a meowth who travels with Jessie and James, members of Team Rocket. He was raised in Hollywood untill one day, he fell in love with another meowth who let him know that she prefered being with humans than being with a street-pokémon. Therefore, Meowth learned to walk and talk to be as much like humans as possible, and when he could do this well, he went over to impress the female meowth which whom he had fallen in love. After she saw him, she looked down on him even more since now he was a freak. shocked, he spent a long time wandering around untill he finally decided to join Team Rocket. He spent a day serving Giovani untill the boss assigned him to be partners with Jessie and James who at first didn't notice he could walk and talk. The next day Meowth, Jessie, and James had to steal a rare pokémon from a tower across rivers, mountains, and forests as a test. Being as feline as he is, Meowth consumes all the food provisions and avoids getting wet in the river. The tower, however, had many traps, one of which was a pit into which James would've fallen into if he hadn't grabbed on to Meowth's tail.

After Jessie, James, and Meowth finally are accepted as members of Team Rocket, they go out to steal pokémon, but always try to get Ash Ketchum's Pikachu and follow him around for that reason. Sometimes Meowth talks way too much and Jessie and James have to give him a ball to distract him. However, this seems to not work any longer, since Meowth has changed overtime. He now lies, wants to do the right thing sometimes (which goes against what Jesse & James want), and has fantasies of how Giovanni would react if their plans actually worked correctly and they can give Giovani a stolen pokémon he'll actually like. Meowth also is the one who now often operates Team Rocket's complicated pokémon-stealing machinery.
