Meppel (population: 30,000) is a town in the northeastern Netherlands, in the province of Drenthe. The municipality covers an area of 58.00 km² (of which 0.63 km² water).
The municipality of Meppel also includes the following towns, villages and townships: Broekhuizen, De Kolk, Havelterberg, Havixhorst, Kolderveen, Kolderveense Bovenboer, Lindenhorst, Nijentap, Nijeveen, Nijeveense Bovenboer, Rogat, Schiphorst.
