Michael Francis Easley (born March 23 1950 Nash County, North Carolina) is the current governor of the state of North Carolina. An attorney, Easley served as North Carolina's Attorney General from 1993 to 2001 before defeating Richard Vinroot for the governor's seat. A Democrat, he succeeded longtime governor Jim Hunt.
