Nieuw Rechts (New Right) is a right-wing Dutch political party founded by Michiel Smit. NR formed after Smit was forced out of the Leefbaar Rotterdam faction due to his outspoken right-wing views and contacts with the Vlaams Blok. According to the party's program its philosophy is a mixture of classical liberalism, conservatism, and nationalism. The party is also influenced by the ideology of assassinated Dutch leader Pim Fortuyn.
