Operation Bramble Bush
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

In December 2003, the New York Times reported on Operation Bramble Bush, an Israeli plan to kill Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein in 1992.

When a close relative of the dictator was discovered to be terminally ill, the Israelis investigated the possibility using a commando team to ambush the funeral party.

In a rehearsal, the commandos fired live rounds into a convoy simulating the target, killing five soldiers. The plan was never executed.
