Owari (game)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Owari is a game that is popular in West Africa. Generally Owari involves a number of bowls into which stones are placed. The object of the game is to collect as many stones as you can using various methods.

One version of Owari involves 2 players and 12 bowls, 6 of which 'belong' to each player. The board is arranged such that the bowls that belong to that player are on their side of the playing area. The two players take turns to remove stones from one of the bowls that belong to them. Once all the stones are in their hand they move anticlockwise around the board, dropping a stone in each container. If a bowl had 1 stone in it to begin with (before dropping any stones), all the stones that are in it after dropping them are 'captured' by the player. This means they are taken out of the game and the player's score is increased by however many stones they captured. Once a player captures 24 stones they win the game.
