Parti de la Democratie Socialiste
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The Parti de la Democratie Socialiste or PDS originated as the Quebec wing of the New Democratic Party of Canada. It was expelled from the NDP after it elected former Front de Libération du Québec militant Paul Rose as its leader and adopted a program calling for Quebec independence. In 2002, it joined with the Rassemblement pour l'Alternative Politique (RAP) and the Parti communiste du Québec to form the Union des forces progressistes (UFP).
