Paul Bérenger
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Paul Raymond Bérenger is a Mauritian politician best known as leader of the socialist Mouvement Militant Mauricien. He became prime minister in 2003. Of French ancestry, Bérenger is the first White politician to become the head of government of any African country since decolonization. In the 1970s, he was regarded as a Communist, but has become much more moderate since the 1980s, and has espoused free-market economics to the extent that today he is widely regarded as a socialist only in name.
