Peripheries of Greece

The Peripheries are the subdivision of Greece. There are 13 peripheries (9 on the mainland and 4 island groups), which are further subdivided into 51 Prefectures of Greece.

Attica Central Greece Central Macedonia Crete East Macedonia and Thrace Epirus Ionian Islands North Aegean Peloponnesos South Aegean Thessaly West Greece West Macedonia

Beyond these there is one autonomous region, Mount Athos (Ayion Oros - Holy Mountain), a monastic state under Greek sovereignty. It is located on the easternmost of the three large peninsulas jutting into the Aegean from Central Macedonia periphery.
