Phil Hendrie (born September 1, 1952) is the host of a nationally syndicated radio program, known for its unique guests. However, the guests on the Phil Hendrie Show are not real people - they are characters created by Hendrie. Many callers are duped into believing that the guests on the show are real, when Hendrie is actually making most of the voices himself.
Some of the "guests" include:
- Bobbie Dooley, president of a local home owners association
- Jay Santos, member of a local police watchdog group
- Ted Bell, a Beverly Hills steakhouse owner
- Doug Danger, an openly gay newspaper columnist ("a gay man and a gay journalist")
- David G. Hall, who plays the role of Phil's overbearing boss
- Pastor Rennick, obnoxious African American priest from the Joyful Union Congregation
- R.C. Collins, a young pubescent cadet at a military academy
In the third segment, a third and final element enters the conversation, and more calls are taken. The caller and guest converse in downright bellicose tones, which usually gives Phil the opportunity to hang up on his guest, and be apologetic to his callers.
On some segments of the show he provides his opinions and rants in his actual voice on matters of the day. There is a flurry of ethnic slurs, such as referring to Middle Easterners as "ragheads" or "Ay-rabs".
