Politicized issues are social, economic, theological, spiritual, medical or legal issues which have gone through a process of become political - that is, that people have become politically active about that issue. An example of this would be abortion which has traditionally been a medical issue between doctor and patient, but has become a legal and political issue. Often terminology will change as it becomes a political issue to avoid political faux pas. Using abortion as an example, those who think that abortion is okay and should be based on a decision by pregnant mother with consultation from her doctor describe their views as 'pro-choice'. Opponents of abortion describe their views as 'pro-life'.
Other politicized issues include separation of church and state and capital punishment.
