Pont Neuf

The Pont Neuf is the oldest standing bridge in Paris, France, across the river Seine.

This is ironical since its name means "new bridge". It was built by King Henri IV; its construction started in 1578. The Pont Neuf is constructed as a series of many short arch bridges, as most bridges of that time were built.

It connects the Left Bank of Paris to the Right Bank, and, around its middle, it covers a western portion of the Ile de la Cité.
