Reformism is the belief that gradually changes in a society can change its fundamental structures. That is contrasted to "revolutionism" which believes that there must be a revolution to fundamentally change a society. A person who adhere to reformism is called a reformist.
The term is usually applied to the political left. Social Democratic parties such as the American Green party and the Canadian NDP are reformist.
