The Republican Liberty Caucus is a political organization dedicated to electing and supporting what they call "liberty-minded, limited-government individuals" within the Republican Party. It can be considered the libertarian wing of the Republican Party.
The RLC is a nationwide organization which claims members in every state. Membership currently includes eight members of the US House of Representatives: John Culberson, Mark Foley, J.D. Hayworth, Sam Johnson, Ron Paul, John Shadegg, Nick Smith, and Todd Tiahrt.
The RLC supports free enterprise, personal freedom, and protecting individual rights, and endorses the following policies:
Lower and fewer taxes The right to privacy The right to keep and bear arms Balanced budgets through spending cuts Educational choice Freedom of speech Protection of property rights Market-based health care Alternatives to the drug war All-volunteer armed forces Term Limits Sound monetary policies Deregulation Phase-out of foreign aid Ending federal welfare Private options to Social Security Free trade Privatization of government functions
