VC-winner of the Royal Naval Air Service (01.01.1916, for action at Ferrijik Junction, Bulgaria at 19.11.1915).
Achieved rank of Vice-Admiral upon retiring on 29.05.1941, his last appointment being Rear-Admiral, Naval Air Stations (HMS Daedalus).
