Røros
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The town Røros in the county of Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, has 5,597 inhabitants as of January 1, 2002. Known for its copper mines, it is one of Norway's two nationally significant mining towns with activity starting in the 17th century (the other one being the "silver-town" Kongsberg).

Røros and its people was made famous in the Norwegian audience at the turn of the century (1901-) by author Johan Falkberget, who told the story of the mining community from the perspective of the hard-tested miners at the bottom of the social ladder.

The town is on the UNESCO World heritage list.
