Rostov-Yaroslavski
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Rostov (Rostov-Yaroslavski, or Rostov Velikiy, Cyrillic Росто́в) is a small town in the Yaroslavl Oblast, on the shores of lake Nero. Known from the year 862, it is now an important tourist center (museums, old churches).

While the official name of the town is Rostov, the name Rostov-Yaroslavski is sometimes used to distinguish it from Rostov on Don, which is now a much larger city. The other name Rostov Velikiy means Rostov the Great, as formerly Rostov was an important center, politically and economically.
