Ruse (also spelled Rousse) is the fifth largest city in Bulgaria. It is a major cultural center and the largest Bulgarian port on the Danube. It is also situated on the border with Romania.
One of Ruse's claims to fame is that it is the birthplace of 1981 Nobel Prize for Literature winner Elias Canetti.
Ruše is also a town and a municipality in Slovenia.
