U.S. government's classification of substances such as cannabis, LSD, cocaine, and many other substances, including many commonly unknown chemicals. According to the U.S. government, a schedule 1 drug is a substance that:
- Has a high potential for abuse.
- Has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
- A lack of accepted safety for use of the drug under medical supervision.
