Scott D. Altman
Scott D. Altman (born 15 August 1959) is an American astronaut and veteran of three space shuttle missions.
Raised in Perkin, Illinois, Altman studied aeronautical engineering from the University of Illinois before entering the United States Navy in 1981. A test pilot on the F-14 project, Altman also flew as part of Operation Southern Watch over Iraq following the 1991 Gulf War. In 1994, Altman was selected as a NASA astronaut candidate; he piloted missions STS-90 in 1998 and STS-106 in 2000, and commanded STS-109 in 2002, a Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission.
