Serengeti National Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Serengeti National Park is a large national park in Tanzania, Africa.

The "big five" animals of the park, so named by hunters on safari decades ago, are lions, leopards, elephants, rhinoceroses, and Cape buffalo. The park is also home to hyenas, cheetah, zebras, birds of prey, and many other species.

While it is not part of the park, Olduvai Gorge, where many of the oldest hominid fossils and artifacts have been found, is connected to the Serengeti ecosystem.

Serengeti National Park has been listed by the UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites.
