Japanese calligraphy.

Written using a brush called hude. The ink is obtained from charchoal made from tree trunks which has a nice smell (sumi).

Usually characters are written when seated but with the movement of the whole body. If the characters are small hand is support on the table but when a little larger than that hand and the arm does not touch the table. For very large characters while the paper in on the ground artist writes when standing up again with the movement of the whole body.

Brush is handled gently which is different when compared to Western and Arabic Calligraphy.

The first styles are coming from China but later Japanese developed their own styles as well.
