Smoking cessation

Smoking cessation is an umbrella term for the effort to stop smoking tobacco products.

Effective techniques include:

• "Cold turkey": stopping by force of will
• Nicotine replacement therapy (includes transdermal patches and nicotine gum)
• The antidepressant Zyban (also sold as Wellbutrin)

Alternative techniques include:

• Hypnosis
• Herbal preparations such as Kava Kava and Chamomile
• Nutritional nicotine detoxification
• Acupuncture
