Soft Machine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Soft Machine were a pioneering British psychedelic, progressive rock band from Canterbury, Kent, England. They were one of the central bands in the Canterbury scene.

Their initial lineup featured Kevin Ayers, Robert Wyatt, Daevid Allen (later of Gong) and Mike Ratledge, but Allen left before their first album, and Ayers was replaced by Hugh Hopper by the time of the second. Later, Wyatt left, and there were a number of other lineup changes.
