Svetlahorsk (
Svetlogorsk in
Russian translation) is a city in
Homyel voblast,
Belarus. It is located by river
Berezina. Before the
1961 - a village Shatsilki. A railroad station on the Zhlobin-Kalinkavichy railway. About 60 000 inhabitants.
Industry: Vasilevichskaya heat power plant ,
chemicals man-made fiber plant ,
reinforced concrete industrial complex, some
oil producing industry, pulp and paper milk, butter-making factory, bakery. An industrial colledge.
Sights: an
orthodox church and a cathedral; a
catholic cathedral, a
quay, a museum of local lore.
