Tadalafil (Cialis®) is a drug used to treat male erectile dysfunction (impotence), developed by the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company. The generic name for this compound is sildenafil citrate. The tablet are yellow and oval-shaped. Cialis's main selling points: It works for up to 36 hours after being swallowed and can be taken with or without food. It has the same mode of action as Viagra, and Levitra.
Lilly, of Indianapolis, and ICOS, of Bothell, Washington, will sell Cialis in the United States for a wholesale price of $8.10 a pill.
Cialis has a multiyear promotional deal with professional golf.
Cialis has FDA approval and is scheduled to appear in U.S. stores in December, 2003.
