Tamil may refer to:

• a member of the Tamil people who live mostly in Tamil Nadu state in south-eastern India, in the north and east of Sri Lanka and in Malaysia and Singapore
• to the Tamil language, one of the Dravidian tongues spoken in the Indian subcontinent

The phrase Tamil country is used sometimes to refer to the regions occupied by Tamil speaking peoples. The extents of this region vary through history.
