Terni with a population of around 108,000 is a city in central Italy, on the Nera river. It was known to the Romans by the name Interamna. The city was probably founded in the 7th century BC by the Umbri. It is the capital of the Terni province in the region of Umbria. Other cities in the province include Narni, Orvieto, and Amelia.
