Torhout is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality only comprises the city of Torhout proper. On January 1st, 2000 Torhout had a total population of 18,838 (9,396 males and 9,442 females). The total area is 45.35 km² which gives a population density of 415.39 inhabitants per km².
