Twyla Tharp (born July 1 1941) is an American dancer and choreographer who won three Emmy Awards for her [1985] television production Baryshnikov by Tharp.
After graduating in Art History she joined the Paul Taylor Dance Company in 1963. She formed her own group in 1965.
Her work has encompassed classical music, jazz and contemporary pop music.
She has choreographed dances for several films including:
- Hair
- Ragtime
- Amadeus
- White Nights
