Vänersborg is a municipality in southwest Sweden, in the county of Västra Götaland. The municipality covers an area of 641.8 km². Of the total population of 36589, 18154 are male, and 18435 are female. The population density of the community is 57 inhabitants per km².
The poet Birger Sjöberg (1885-1929) was born in Vänersborg.
