White Army

White Army is the name given to the counter-revolutionary army that fought against the Bolshevik Red Army in the Russian Civil War from 1918 to 1921. The officer core of the army, the White Guard, were monarchists. It was supported by representatives of many other political movements: democrats, social revolutionaries, and others who opposed the Russian Revolution. The rank and file bulk were both active opponents of Bolsheviks, such as cossacks, and merely enlisted apolitic peasants.
