Whitehorse is a city council, and district, in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The council covers the area of the old Shire of Blackburn and Mitcham, and was formed through the merger of Box Hill and Nunawading.
The middle class suburbs in Whitehorse are primarily residential, commercial (retail and office), and light industrial. Included in the area are several large shopping centres, including Forest Hills Chase, Whitehorse Plaza, and Box Hill Central.
The region also covers several parks.
Major roads through the council include Whitehorse Rd. and Canterbury Rd (east - west), and Springvale Rd., Blackburn Rd., Station St., and Elgar Rd (north-south). The Eastern Freeway marks its northern border.
