Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots was a 2002 album by the the Flaming Lips. The style is an LSD-tinged indie rock somewhat more accessible than those of their earlier LPs. Yoshimi's lyrics concern a diverse array of subject matter, mostly deeply melancholy ponderings about love, mortality, artificial emotion, pacifism, and deception with the exception of a two-track segment on the title character, a young Japanese girl who attempts to defend the singer from destructive robots with unstated outcome.
In addition to the single compact disc format, there is a two-disc release, composed of the regular album and a DVD containing various alternate takes, b-sides, music videos, video footage from the album recordings, and the trailer for the Flaming Lips' 2003 film, Christmas on Mars.
